Book Rec #1

Okay! So since I have not quite of an idea on what I'm gonna do for the fourth week; plus, also because I'm too attached to the fictional world, I thought of something fictional related to do for every fourth week.

During this week of the month, there are several things I could do for Fictional Fourth Week. I could either
  • Introduce a favorite fictional character
  • Introduce a favorite fictional world
  • Give book recommendations of novels I've read even before I started blogging
(although you bet on it the only thing's I'll do here is book rec) Obviously, now, this week, I'm giving you the first novel I recommend you guys read!

That gorgeous novel up there is Life on the Refrigerator Door by Alice Kuipers. This novel is basically about a mother-daughter relationship. We have Claire and her mom. They hardly meet and they literally just communicate through post-it notes stuck on their refrigerator door. For a better telling of the novel's summary, here's goodreads':
Claire and her mother are running out of time, but they don't know it. Not yet. Claire is wrapped up with the difficulties of her burgeoning adulthood—boys, school, friends, identity; Claire's mother, a single mom, is rushed off her feet both at work and at home. They rarely find themselves in the same room at the same time, and it often seems that the only thing they can count on are notes to each other on the refrigerator door. When home is threatened by a crisis, their relationship experiences a momentous change. Forced to reevaluate the delicate balance between their personal lives and their bond as mother and daughter, Claire and her mother find new love and devotion for one another deeper than anything they had ever imagined.

Heartfelt, touching, and unforgettable,
Life on the Refrigerator Door is a glimpse into the lives of mothers and daughters everywhere. In this deeply touching novel told through a series of notes written from a loving mother and her devoted fifteen-year-old daughter, debut author Alice Kuipers deftly captures the impenetrable fabric that connects mothers and daughters throughout the world. Moving and rich with emotion, Life on the Refrigerator Door delivers universal lessons about love in a wonderfully simple and poignant narrative.
Life on the Refrigerator Door is such a wonderful novel. This is most probably one of the most underrated novels I've ever read. It's unique, very easy to read (you can finish this in one sitting) and most of all, heartwarming. This novel taught me a lot more than any other one-sitting novels I've read. It would teach you to appreciate your family more than anything. This novel made me cry and smile at everything that's happening and I highly suggest you read it. It doesn't matter if you don't read books in general, because this wouldn't even dare you read so much (because it's told throught notes, ha-lo). It's like a mini recollection, only you only use your eyes (and heart and brain?) and you're alone. So yeah, if you got time, go read it and I hope you'll like it as much as I do.

And if you have read it already, tell me what you think of it or maybe recommend a few favorite novels of your own! :--)

'Til next time!

:-)
